THE DERWENT GROUP SECURES 117,000 SQ FT INDUSTRIAL PLANNING CONSENT IN WIGAN

Glass House Wigan

Acting on behalf of the Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation, the Derwent Group has announced the successful granting of planning permission for 117,000 sq ft warehouse at Glass House Business Park in Wigan. The consent comprises a 100,000 sq ft stand-alone unit with 17,000 sq ft of multi-let trade counter units.

This significant project marks a strategic move to reposition the entire estate as part of a major redevelopment initiative. The aim is to not only introduce a state-of-the-art warehouse facility but also to enhance the overall appeal of the park by creating improved amenities, which is earmarked for future phases.

Situated in a prime location with excellent connectivity to junction 25 of the M6, less than 0.5 miles away. Glass House Business Park capitalises on Wigan’s exceptional employment resources and boasts a skilled workforce that surpasses the UK average, making it a pivotal area for development.

Commenting on the development, Andrew McCormack, Senior Asset Manager at The Derwent Group emphasised the importance of these plans: “This is a highly deliverable scheme and we are actively seeking pre-let enquiries with a view to having the stand-alone building ready for a new occupier within 12 months. With an acute lack of supply in the market, this Grade A accommodation in Wigan addresses a critical need in the region, enhancing the economic landscape of Wigan and providing businesses with top-tier facilities.”

B8 Real Estate and CBRE have been retained as the joint letting agents for the scheme.
